Summary:
A Dutch beer brewer is looking for new ways to reduce the energy consumption of its global fleet of fridges (and subsequently its carbon footprint). They are looking for experience in product design, business process modelling, creative thinking, software development, consumer intelligence and customer experience to develop new solutions within the frame of a technical cooperation agreement. This request refers to an innovation challenge published on an open platform.
Description:
One of the leading beer brewers in the world, with its head office situated in The Netherlands, has a fleet of over a million fridges across the globe, in various outlets from bars to convenience stores and supermarkets. The idea is that at any time the consumer should be able to buy a cold beer that can be enjoyed straight away (or shortly after purchase). The current situation where a large number of fridges are plugged in 24/7, with varying numbers of door openings and varying reloading patterns, is not the most energy efficient, and perhaps not the most relevant way of making cold beer available to consumers. As part of its sustainability strategy, the Dutch company has been working on ways to reduce the energy consumption of its fridges (and subsequently its carbon footprint), mainly through improving the specification of its fleet of fridges. The company is now looking for the next step in that journey, maybe through reinventing the commercial fridge, maybe by looking at new ways to dispense cold beers to their consumers, in a way that is environmentally friendly and drives sales. The company regards this challenge as a ground breaking sustainable innovation, really impactful from a sustainability point of view (energy consumption), and contributing to a great consumer experience. The solution might be an upgraded asset or a whole new cooling system, including the notion of “Cooling on Demand”. The Dutch company is looking for ideas and solutions that will: • Accelerate the sustainability agenda of the company • Create ground breaking sustainable innovation (potentially usable by other companies) Potential partners should have relevant experience in areas such as: product design, business process modelling, creative thinking, software development, consumer intelligence, customer experience It is envisioned that selected partners will participate in an assignment to realize a prototype or a pilot making use of the company’s support- and test environment. The company is open to a partnership in the frame of a technical cooperation agreement. Other types of partnership can be offered and discussed with the company. IMPORTANT: This technology request refers to an innovation challenge published on an open internet platform. If an organization expresses interest before the closing date, it will be guided towards this open innovation platform. After registration participants can browse free through other submissions and engage in discussions. All submissions will get feedback by the company on this open platform. The challenge closes on December 1st, 2019. Mind that posts on this platform are not confidential. Beside open discussions on the platform, sharing of confidential information will be made possible on demand. After that, the firm will select the organizations with whom they would like to cooperate in the development of a solution. Once the challenge is closed, expressions of interest for this technology request will be treated in the traditional way.
