The innovative analytical device was developed to determine the somatic cell counts in milk in order to detect mastitis (inflammation of the mammary glands). Indicator of this inflammatory process is the increased number of somatic cells in milk, which is used to infer the severity of the mammary gland disease. The device detects the number of somatic cells in milk on the basis of measuring the altered viscosity of milk. Precise amount of freshly collected milk (100 ml) is treated with the same amount of reagent and mixed gently.

Currently, several principles of 3D printing are known which procedure have been gradually developed and improved. The most commonly used is the FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) or FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) method. The principle of this method is that the filament is fed into the nozzle and the resulting melt is applied on the pad in repeated thin layers until a three-dimensional object of desired shapes and dimensions is created. The materials used for filaments are predominantly polymeric materials differing in their mechanical and thermal properties (e.g.

An established Slovak research institute in cooperation with a traditional Slovak university have developed a unique system for in vivo isolation of circulating tumour cells from peripheral blood and are looking for licensees or investors

Each tumour releases cells into the patient's blood or lymphatic system which subsequently enter various parts of the body, creating secondary tumour deposits - metastases. These cells are called circulating tumour cells (CTCs). Their detection in blood has prognostic significance and also allows observing changes in tumour properties in real time. Due to a very low amount of CTCs in the blood, the biological and clinical knowledge of CTCs are strongly dependent on isolation parameters and the technology used to increase the detection success.

Pathogenic bacteria Streptococcus agalactiae group B (GBS) cause severe diseases in humans and are primarily known to cause infections in pregnant women and children. According to the WHO, 15 - 45% of pregnant women suffer from Streptococcus agalactiae GBS colonization, while many of them are asymptomatic. GBS is the leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. In children, the infection caused by GBS can lead to blood poisoning (septicemia), inflammation or damage to the lungs, as well as to neonatal meningitis and brain damage.

A team of inventors from an established Slovak scientific and research institute and an established Slovak university have developed unique technology of information about the increase of electric charge of water droplets in a cloud. Nowadays, several methods exist for prediction of storms with electric discharges. They mostly use technologies based on evaluation of radar and temperature data. Those that work in the radar mode determine the shape of droplets, which in this case serves as an indicator of presence of an increased amount of electric charge.
