A SME situated in the south of Germany (Bavaria) is working in the field of sensory solutions. They developed a measurement system for monitoring the water level of gound and surface water. Previous measuring points could only be read out manually with a great deal of effort. The novel offered system usually consists of a data logger, a hydrostatic sensor and an ultrasonic sensor. At present, the control and reading of water level gauges is done manually, which means that employees have to carry out regular checks on site. The introduced solution has been applied for a patent and is about to be published. A world first with the following description: The system usually consists of a data logger, a hydrostatic sensor and an ultrasonic sensor. The ultrasonic sensor is suspended in the water level tube by a cable in the same way as the hydrostatic sensor. In contrast to the hydrostatic measurement, which must be immersed in the water to measure the level, the 2nd sensor is to be positioned above the expected maximum water level. It measures the distance to the water surface via an ultrasonic transit time measurement. Both measured values are recorded in the evaluation electronics and can be compared with each other. The user can set a maximum permissible deviation between the two measured values. If this deviation is exceeded, an alarm message can be sent via the built-in remote monitoring module. Alternatively, it is also possible to control the measured value comparison and the alarm from a downstream Internet platform. In order not to constantly load the batteries with two sensors, it will usually be sufficient to trigger the redundancy measurement only half a day or once a day. Through this daily verification of the measured values, a drift or even a complete failure of the probe is detected very promptly. The user can thus react very quickly and only a few measured values are missing. In addition, it is possible to fall back on the control measured values if the main measured values are lost. Partners are sought for further development or adaptation development for regional requirements. Knowledge transfer is offered through appropriate training.
