Summary:
A Czech SME manufactures smart plastic pallets. Technologies built-in the smart pallets make possible to track a wide range of predefined parameters, such as accelerometer, which can detect excessive acceleration, sensors for measuring temperature and humidity as well as RFID chip for identification of the transportred goods. The product manufactured is a good value for the money spent. The SME is looking for distributors based on distribution agreement.
Description:
The Czech company with more than 20 years tradition on the market offers smart plastic pallets. In comparison with wooden pallets there is no need for treatment with insecticides and fungicides (and thereby no raised costs as well). The durability of plastic pallets are incomparably greater than wooden ones; during common use, there is almost no wear. Plastic pallets don’t succumb to moulds, fungi or wood-decaying insects. They are made out of material that can be recycled. Plastic pallets resist to vast majority of chemical substances (apart from highly caustic chemicals). Therefore, they are fit for use in the chemical industry. The pallets are made out of recycled mixed plastic (polyethylene, polypropylene and other materials). Primary raw material is granulate made by recycling of sorted waste from plastic products. The pallets can be repeatedly recycled after their life cycle is over. To secure an effective handling of plastic pallets special kinds of labels are used. The labelled products become a returnable packaging. Technologies built-in the smart pallet make it possible to track a wide range of predefined parameters. The accelerometer can detect excessive acceleration, faster than the limits set by the terms of the contract that corresponds to damage to fragile goods. Based on current information from the pallets, the dispatchers responsible are kept informed and the consignment in question can be returned to the sender from the nearest depot. This saves the time and costs associated with unnecessarily delivering a shipment that has already been damaged. Thanks to immediate notification of damage to the shipment (unsuitable temperature, humidity, excessive acceleration), liability can be clearly established. Transmitting data about temperature and humidity can help prevent damage to the shipment. It can monitor the situation continuously and the device can inform the responsible person in advance that the limits are being approached. By tracking the geographic location on the route in real time, the device can provide information for just-in-time logistics management systems – for example, in unexpected situations (accidents, traffic jams, breakdowns). Pallets can be identified and matched with transported goods using barcodes or RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chips. The transmitted data can be archived in cloud and used for transport audits from the point of view of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). The company is looking for distribution partners for the plastic pallets based on distribution agreement. Potential partners should have knowledge of the industry. The partners should have also experience in international cooperation and be interested in long term partnership. Distributors will be provided with samples of the product, and their role will be to place an order, specify requested quantity and to distribute the plastic pallets through their channels. The company is looking for partners interested in a long-term cooperation.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The company is looking for partners interested in a long-term cooperation. The SME prefers distribution services agreement to sell its products on international markets. The partner sought should ideally be a company already distributing packaging products or construction companies for various industries wishing to expand its current products’ portfolio.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The pallet producer let the product tested according to LCA methodology (Life Cycle Assessment) using recommended values from database of the European Commission. The result is that an environmental impacts of transport pallets (type EUR) made from recycled plastics was in comparison to a standard wooden pallet (type EUR) by 74% lower.
