Summary:
A Danish SME offers software technology for satellite communication. The company has a long track record of supplying software technology (waveforms) to Inmarsat satellite communication. The company is currently focusing on software technology for the space connected IoT domain based on narrow band IoT non-terrestrial network (NB-IoT NTN) technology. The technology is focused on the user terminals and they are looking for technical cooperation and commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
For more than 30 years, the Danish company has been developing software technology for the satellite communications domain. Since the foundation in 1989, the company has been focusing on satellite communications solutions (waveforms) for the user terminal domain, primarily for the Inmarsat system. The Inmarsat system originally targeted the maritime segment to provide global and reliable communication applications for marine traffic. The Inmarsat system has since then spread and supports now both aviation and land-based communication applications. The company's software technology is currently deployed in more than 50% of the user terminals worldwide in service for the Inmarsat satellite system and totally more than 120.000 user terminals have been deployed with the company's software technology over the years. With the emerging SmallSat market, the company has expanded its development and business focus, as well as associated business segments like space connected IoT ((Industrial) Internet of Things) and M2M (machine to machine) networks including EO (earth observation). The company is developing software communications technology (waveform) for the SmallSat narrow band IoT non-terrestrial network (NB-IoT NTN). There are currently a few proprietary solutions being deployed for space connected IoT and M2M. However a 3GPP 5G standard (3rd generation partnership project working on 5th generation communication standards) is evolving and the company's software technology development is leaning towards this standard with the aim of being compliant to the 3GPP 5G NB-IoT NTN standard when it is released from the 3GPP standardisation body. The company focuses on the complete user terminal software technology (full-stack development) meaning the offering from the company to the market will be a fully compliant software technology based on the 3GPP 5G NB-IoT NTN standard. With the 3GPP 5G NB-IoT NTN software technology the company offers a unique solution to the market that enables both a worldwide standardised network solution and a "full earth" coverage network solution. Today coverage of 3GPP standardised cellular network solutions is primarily limited to urban land coverage, whereas rural land and ocean coverage to a large extent are non-existing. The software technology from the company will together with the right hardware technology enable the industry to achieve "full earth" standardised coverage for 3GPP 5G NB-IoT and M2M network solutions using either satellite or terrestrial network connections. The company is actively participating in 3GPP standardisation work in order to influence and stay aligned with the standardisation. The software technology development is done partly in cooperation with a research institute and other stakeholders with complementary software technologies but also in cooperation with current customers. The company offers its leading edge solutions in the NB-IoT NTN domain to the satellite communication ecosystem. The offering is done through partnerships and/or co-development with companies and stakeholders doing similar or complementary software and hardware development in the NB-IoT NTN domain for the satellite communication ecosystem. The company is looking for industrial partners for further development under technical cooperation and on the business side under commercial agreements with technical assistance with the aim of providing ready-to-market space connected solutions in the NB-IoT NTN domain.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
Headline for partner search: 1) Technology industry partner 2) Business partner The company is seeking industry partner(s) for cooperation both on the technical side and on the business side. The company is interested in being partner or supplier into a full-scale end-2-end NB-IoT NTN solution and/or product offering. Specifically the company is looking for partners in the chipset domain. This could be partners with chipset or chipset IP (intellectual property) for NB-IoT and/or NB-IoT NTN. The company is also looking for partners in the area of: 1) User terminal suppliers working in the NB-IoT and/or NB-IoT NTN domain with single or dual mode solutions. 2) Satellite system operators and/or satellite service providers working in the NB-IoT NTN domain. 3) Terrestrial system operators and service providers working in the NB-IoT domain wanting to expand their business to the space connected IoT and M2M domain 4) End users interested in cooperation for service solution applications based on NB-IoT NTN. This could for instance be user cases and applications for tracking and/or monitoring of equipment in specific areas or generally worldwide. For the right partner(s) the company can provide leading edge software technology and knowhow in the space connected IoT and M2M domain combined with business knowhow and opportunities for the space communication domain.
