A Dutch hospital is a major care provider in its region and besides investing in medical care facilities it is also involved in contributing to a sustainable environment and society. The hospital is looking for technologies enabling the harvesting of energy at windows of hospital's high-rise buildings and rooftops/facades while simultaneously reducing the heat. The hospital is interested in concluding a technical cooperation agreement. This request is part of an open innovation challenge.
Description: 
A Netherlands based hospital, with over 5.000 employees, is one of the largest healthcare providers in their region. The organization provides excellent hospital care of top clinical quality in 28 different specialties in the hospitals at several locations and provides health- and hospital care to approximately 450.000 inhabitants of the region. The strategic intention is to contribute to a sustainable environment and society. Therefore the organization looks for technologies that helps them to fulfil their plans. The hospital has already invested in solar panels (photovoltaic panels) at areas, such as the rooftops, to generate energy by using sunlight as a source of energy. Currently, the hospital is also looking for opportunities to generate energy at other surface areas in combination with heat reduction of those areas. The challenge is to create a solution to generate energy through these areas, for example (but not limited to) utilizing transparent solar cells or use current innovative technologies to convert windows to solar panels, or a method that reduces heat on facades and at the same time generates energy. This will allow the hospital not only to generate energy through sunlight from horizontal areas but also from vertical areas, such as their high-rise buildings. The company has the intention to conclude a technical cooperation agreement, but they are open to discuss other forms of cooperation and agreements. IMPORTANT: This technical cooperation request refers to an innovation challenge published on the internet platform. If an organization expresses interest before closing date, it will be guided towards this open innovation platform. After registration participants can browse free through other submissions and engage in discussions. All submissions will get feedback by the company on this open platform. The challenge opens on August 30rd. and closes on October 4th. 2021 Mind that posts on this platform are not confidential. Beside open discussions on the platform, sharing of confidential information will be made possible on demand. After that, the organization will select from the chat active SME's, the SME's with whom they would like to cooperate in the development of a solution. Once the challenge is closed, Expressions of Interest for this technology request will be treated in the traditional way.

Type of partner sought: SME’s and research and innovation organizations. The Dutch hospital requires partners with ideas and or solutions for a study how to generate energy through sunlight from horizontal areas but also from vertical areas, such as their high-rise buildings. Suitable SME's and organizations are invited to share their ideas and to propose their expertise. After being selected, the new partner will possibly be invited to participate in the development of the new energy storage systems. A cooperation agreement will be provided to the new partners.

The potential partner has knowledge and or expertise in developing technological systems that harvest and generate energy at areas such as the windows of hospital high-rise buildings, and reduce heat on those places but also on rooftops/facades. Also the partner could think out of the box and have solution(s) including relevant knowledge and innovative technologies.
