Summary:
A Dutch SME has developed a sustainable energy plant that uses sun, wind, batteries and intelligent electronics combined with an Impress Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP), an anti-corrosion technology. The company is looking for partners active in constructing offshore wind farms that are interested in an environmentally alternative to diesel generators, harmful coatings and sacrificial anodes, in the framework of a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
The offshore wind industry is growing rapidly and will become an important sustainable energy source in the coming decades. Although the energy is clean, there are still important environmentally harmful elements associated with offshore wind farms. These are, however, relatively easy to solve. During the construction phase, which takes normally between 8 and 18 months, diesel generators are used to supply energy to these structures. So called sacrificial anodes and coatings are also used to prevent corrosion. The use of diesel generators is not only expensive, but also harmful to the environment. The emission of harmful gases and leaks during refueling create substantial and unnecessary pollution of the immediate environment. The coatings and anodes protect against rust but are also broken down so that harmful substances are released into the environment. This Dutch SME offers an alternative to these unnecesarry polution and harmfull substances. Together with a partner they developed sustainable energy system that runs on sun wind and batteries that combines an anti corrosion method which is a sustainable alternative to sacrificial anodes and expensive coatings to prevent corrosion. The sustainable solution is to use the energy system in combination with the anti corrosion technology during the construction phase. After the large wind turbine has been installed and grid connected, it can supply energy to the anti corrosion system itself. During the construction phase the energy stem generates its own energy and protect the structure against rust and degradation. The owner can therefore save substantial costs because no or only a light coating is sufficient since the structure is protected against corrosion from the very beginning. In addition, the system can also be equipped with basic facilities, such as toilets and first aid cases, which support the basic health and safety aspects during the construction and service phase. The company is looking for partners active in the construction of windfarms to implement this technology into their work process in the framework of a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The company is looking for constructors of windfarms to integrate this system into their construction process. On request the systems can be custom made and adapted to specific needs of the client. Envisaged partnership would be a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
