E-health litter box to improve the lifespan of cats in good health is offered under commercial agency agreement

Along their life, more than 50% of cats will have a kidney failure, 1 out of 200 cats will have diabetic problems but 80% of those cases could be avoided with early detection. Another issue is that cats get stressed when visiting the veterinarian (transport, presence of other animals, examination, etc.) This stress could modify analyses like glucosuria (detection of kidney problems). A French SME has developed a complete e-health litter box for cats which allows to detect and follow the health of the pets at home. Upon a usual litter box, the product allows to measure physiological and biological parameters. The device consists in: - A litter box equipped with a pad to collect urine and some discrete sensors allowing to deliver more than 20 essential parameters necessary for the establishment of the veterinary diagnosis and collected when the cat goes naturally to the litter: • Identification of the cat (if several animals are living at home) • Temperature • Weight • Behaviour (how many times per day the cat comes in its litter, how long does it stay...) • Urine quantity, colour, turbidity • 14 biological data linked to urine analysis including glucose, protein, pH, blood etc. The device gathers the fresh urine from the cat and selects the urine (2nd drop) for biological analyses. - A mobile application that makes a picture of the pad and its colorimetric analyses. The algorithms measure then the concentration and deliver the results. The health status of the cat can be followed easily. Thanks to the biological thresholds corresponding to the specific animal (registered by the veterinarian for the most specific elements), the results can indicate biological alarms for the pet’s owner and the veterinarian. It allows to follow daily the weight and behavior of the pet in a very peaceful way and guides in every utilization stage of the litter and pad. In case of necessity the veterinarian can ask for a visit at the clinic and to bring the urine sample in the pad. Because the pad is made with plastic medical grade it allows the transportation of the urine sample easily to the veterinarian. The company has finalized the prototypes on tests and starts manufacturing the plastic moulds. It plans the beginning of sales in September 2020 and is looking for commercial agencies or direct contacts among veterinary groups or petshops to launch the products line in these first targeted countries: Northern Europe, Canada, Japan and South Corea.
