Summary:
A Korean company, with its innovative technology of utilizing microorganisms, found a way to instantly remove odor from livestock manure from pigs, cows and chickens, and to create high-quality biological /natural fertilizer and feed. They would like to conduct joint R&D project for Eurostars 2 in September 2018 with companies interested in husbandry and makers of fertilizer / feed products on further developing the product and enter the European market, preferably the German market.
Description:
Tremendous amount of livestock waste produced every year is becoming a huge environmental and societal problem in a number of countries. A Korean company, with its innovative technology of utilizing microorganisms, found a way to instantly remove odor from livestock waste from pigs, cows, and chickens and create high-quality biological fertilizer/livestock feed without causing any harm to crops. The microorganism is mixed with the manure in the manure storage; after 24 hours, the liquidated manure is sprayed over the farm ground. As the microorganism removes the odor, the sprayed manure has no smell. Not only the technology prevents the water and ground pollution in the countryside, but also it contributes to the additional income of the farmers who make fertilizers out of manure. The company has another use for livestock manure as it is making feed out of the animal manure. The company carried out a research project with a government institution related to food industry in relation to the manure feed (which has the microorganism inside). The manure feed was fed to two groups of chickens. Each group was made of one hundred chickens about 30 weeks old; one group was fed manure feed and the other was not. Through the experiment the institution found out that the weight and size of the eggs laid by the chickens significantly improved, on the average by 22.7%. Also, the thickness of the shell increased so less eggs were damaged in the logistic process. The Korean company already has the experience of testing the technology in Asian countries such as South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. It is looking for a partner in the Europe, preferably from Germany, to identify microbial standard conditions to enter the EU market. For the breakdown of the expected roles, the company will: - Supply high-end microorganism to the partner. The company has many references in Korea - Conduct research for suitable microorganism application for dairy and livestock farms with a German institution - Receive the feedback results and requirements from the research institution of dairy and livestock farming industry from Germany - Develop a modified microorganism for German requirements - Send an R&D team from Korea to investigate the German market and set distribution channel for German market The potential partner is expected to: - Conduct R&D project and commercialization of the product for successful entry into the European market (priority in the German market) - Provide expert researchers to co-work with Korean experts - Provide affordable labs with some instruments for research - Make the data and report detail together with Korean experts - Introduce major farmers and related companies for selling and distribution - Invest R&D cost with the Korean company (detail for the cost ratio to be decided later) - Apply for the Eurostars 2 together with the Korean company (Eureka Network is also possible) - Help to expand to other European markets (commission may be arranged) The expected result of cooperation is successful supply and sales to German farmers with the microorganism specialized for the country’s countryside. The company hopes to expand the sales to other areas of the European market step by step. The planned duration of the R&D project is about six months. The company is interested in R&D programs such as Eurostars 2 in September 2018. Official deadline for the call is September 30th, and the deadline for expressions of interest is open until September 20th. The company has a special technology for the purification of water pollution as well and hopes to expand the area of cooperation later on.
