Summary:
A French SME designing and manufacturing outdoor children and sports playgrounds made of soft cast floor mats is looking for ecological binding components as substitute to currently used petrochemical binding agents. The company is now interested by a research cooperation agreement in being involved as an end-user with partners developing new ecological binding elements to test these solutions.
Description:
This French SME is designing and manufacturing outdoor children and sports playgrounds. It is specialised in the deposition (laying) of soft cast floor mats made of resins and elastomer granulates. Up to now, it uses polyurethane resins as binding agents which are not environmentally friendly. It is therefore looking for ecological substitute coming from "green" chemicals to use as binding agents for EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) granulates used in outdoor cast floor coverings. As the company is on a relatively niche market (outdoor cast floor), it figurates that most of the existing solutions in the market do not cover its needs. Therefore it is rather looking for cooperation with larger companies developing new ecological binding agents acting as end-user It is favoring a technological agreement, whatever the type of collaborative project (EU ou bilateral)
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
Type : Industrial manufacturer of "green" chemical products (e.g. natural or bio-based binding agents) or technical organisation developing bio-based materials as binding agents Role : Integrate the company in the research project as end-user for the market of outdoor soft cast floor to test new solutions.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The binding agent should be from purely natural and sustainable resource. It should have the same binding characteristic as polyurethane for use in outdoor soft cast covering with EPDM granulates. So it should be resistant to outdoor constraints such as temperature variations, humidity, UV and so on.
