Founded in 1996, the Berlin-based German company produces audio-visual content (20-25 new productions per year), primarily for primetime slots at German public TV stations.
Hereby, the focus is on creative documentaries and media packages with an international background, regarding topics like history, politics, science and nature. Two films per year are produced for cinemas while the others are TV documentaries. About three third of the film productions are produced for international licensing and reach a market in up to 55 countries worldwide. The distribution for international licensing is based on a close cooperation with worldwide distributors. The size and variety of this pool of distributors enables the company to select the most suitable partner for a film on a project-to-project basis.
The high emphasis on international co-production also adds to the European positioning of the company. Through co-productions with among others Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Azerbaijan and England - apart from financing the productions - access to the home markets of the co-production partners has been gained. As a result, the company has been established as an attractive partner in a European context. Approximately 35 percent of the yearly project costs are currently being financed partly through international co-productions. Moreover, the company has been invited to large international film festivals like Berlinale and Toronto.
