Summary:
The Ukrainian company offers new technology in municipal energy that works with virtually no energy consumption, for: - production and transportation of ice to air conditioning and cooling systems, - heating of frosty air before heating systems with air heat pumps (AHP), and ventilation systems. This technology is cheaper than the known ones and reduces CO2 emissions. The company is looking for partners involved in similar projects under the technical cooperation agreement.
Description:
The Ukrainian company creates automation tools and systems. Since 1996, the company has developed, manufactured, certified, and implemented over 300 product names. Also, the company develops renewable energy projects (using the cold of the environment). In the northern regions of Europe, Asia, and America, the number of frosty days ranges from 70 to 200 per year. At the same time, the operation of air heat pumps (AHP) deteriorates due to a decrease in the transformation ratio from 3.5-5 to 1.5-2.0, and ventilation systems require additional sources of traditional energy. It is also known that during the heating period the air from the AHP evaporator of heating systems comes out with a temperature 25-40°C below the ambient temperature. Heating of frosty air and the formation of ice (ice crumbs) in the proposed installation occurs when the water freezes. In this case, the heat of crystallization is released, the value of which is so high (334 kJ / kg) that the consumption of water during freezing is insignificant. This makes it possible to heat the air in front of the AHP evaporator and ventilation systems in winter from minus 10-50°С to minus 3°С. Ice and melt water are formed at the same time. The unit can be used in the following cases: - in regions with cold climates in winter - for heating the supplied air in ventilation systems and in front of AHP evaporators in heating systems, for the production, storage, and transportation of ice (ice crumbs), food storage and production of melt water, - in regions with a temperate climate during the heating season - for the production and storage of ice (ice crumbs), food storage, production of heat and melt water, - in regions with hot climates, ice crumbs (after transportation in insulated containers for any distance in the amount of 20-400000 tons and accumulation) are used in air conditioning, cooling, ventilation, food storage and melt water production. The unit is an autonomous automatic unit (for supplying water and frosty air to special nozzles in order to form ice in the form of icicles) and does not violate the design of the neighboring heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. The operation of the installation is of a periodic nature associated with automatic ice removal (with a period of 8-24 hours). Several installations are used for continuous operation. The company is looking for partners - SMEs, corporations, and universities that are involved in similar energy projects. The preferred form of cooperation is a technical cooperation agreement. The Ukrainian company's contribution to the project is heat engineering calculations and manufacturing of the unit.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
SMEs, corporations, universities, and consortiums that are specialized in the development of new energy and water supply systems in the framework of European projects.
Stage of Development:
Prototype available for demonstration
Comments Regarding Stage of Development:
Using the heat of water crystallization, three types of air heaters were developed, one of which was made in the form of a prototype, with a capacity sufficient for ventilation of the cottage. It was tested in 2018 in Kyiv. At the same time, the air warmed up from minus 11°C to minus 4-5°C. This was enough to ventilate a building with an area of 100 square meters (the first degree of heating in front of a traditional heater).

Comments Regarding IPR Status:
There are a number of publications and patents of Ukraine, there is a scientific publication in the USA. There is great potential for creating new patent applications because almost no one in the world is researching these issues. The company is interested in obtaining patents in other countries (together with partners).
