Summary:
A French SME has developed edge computing solution, mixed hardware-software, with innovative functionalities that allows the collection and delivery of IoT sensor data and web content in a limited connection environment. The SME seeks commercial agreements with technical assistance with ICT integrators in Europe managing smart projects in the sectors of smart city, industry 4.0, intelligent transport, smart ocean). Research cooperation agreement is sought to further develop the technology.
Description:
Smart cities, smart industries, smart mobility, smart ocean, those new digital experiences, from the video streaming to the sensors data collecting, which define new network requirements. While the bulk of data processing for connected devices across industries now happens in the cloud, sending data back and forth across a central server can take seconds too long and also requires a ton of expensive infrastructure. By the year 2025, an estimated 463 exabytes worth of data will be created per day globally - equivalent to over 200 million DVDs per day. With so many more devices connected to the internet and generating data, cloud computing might not be able to handle it all -or lower latency enough to be useful in critical decision-making moments. This is where edge computing comes in. The technology promises faster processing at lower costs right at the source of the datanfrastructure. The French company has developed such an edge computing solution, including an intelligent gateway that is a mix of hardware and software with innovative features for caching, dynamic prefetching and edge applications hosting, enabling the collect of data from high-quality sensors, including cameras, even where network coverage is low or quite inexistant. This innovative edge computing solution includes: -a mesh network of “Intelligent Gateways” (IGW): each IGW transmits its own Wi-Fi signal, can process IoT sensors data via multiple interfaces (LoRa, Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi, 4G/5G…), connects automatically with other IGW, stores content in the cache, can serve data collection, data processing and content delivery, -a software for the monitoring and the management of gateways and sensors, -a Rest API (Representational state transfer Application Programming Interface) for the feeding of existing smart service platforms, data lake, etc. These components can be mixed with partners existing end-to-end IoT Platforms. The software components embedded in the IGW can be installed on partners existing hardware infrastructure. The solution can be used with several IoT sensors, including connected cameras. The use cases could be: -air quality -noise level -displacements and vibrations for both buildings and infrastructures -double parking detection -intrusion detection -environment observation -etc. The solution in currently experimented in Rennes (France) for Air quality monitoring, in Matosinhos (Portugal) for the alerting on Double parking in the city, in Catania (Italy) for the monitoring of critical infrastructures and buildings. Commercial agreements with technical assistance are sought with ICT integrator partners which manage Smart projects (cities, mobility, industry, maritime) and deal with municipalities, transport operators and smart services providers. The French company will provide specific training, technical support and professional services needed for the Smart projects. Research agreement is sought with Academic or SME partners in the field of ICT to cooparate under funded projects (H2020 or others) in order to further develop the technology to implement new features (beyond 5G, multi-access edge computing, deep edge computing, IA for content processing, content delivery, ...).
