A Japanese odourless bio toilet that produces fertiliser, is seeking distributors

Over the past couple decades, various bio toilets have been developed for use cases that have to be eco-friendly. Some of them have had complex features like separate treatment for urine and faeces, or the necessity for lactobacilli to be added. The search is still on for a toilet that is very easy to maintain and is comfortable to use. The UK office of a Japanese company is seeking distributors in Europe for their novel bio toilet. See the picture below. Its ‘consumables’ are sawdust and electricity and the output is organic fertiliser. The toilet is self-contained so that any odour escapes through a chimney. It has been proven that the evaporation and decomposition convert the lion’s share of the matter into water vapour and CO2. At the same time, the NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) and other minerals stick in the small pores in sawdust, turning it into fertiliser. The container needs to be emptied and new sawdust added a couple times a year. The process is facilitated by mixing with a big screw in the container. This is turned with electricity. A modification is available for off-grid places where it is turned by something that is essentially a bike or by a mini shovel in the case of more affordable versions. Small heating elements have been included for cold weather. The power for them can be renewable. The company has a whole range of toilets including for pet litter and even bigger industrial versions that are capable of digesting carcasses. The products have proven popular and first overseas distributors and licensees have been found. With this offer, they are targeting distributors in Europe who supply to holiday homes and other sites that benefit from bio toilets.
