Summary:
Czech R&D Institution has developed a platform for remote water meter reading for better indentification of weak points of the water distribution network in building complexes. The main innovation lies in the use of low-cost remote readings and data communication to the local distribution network without need of high operating costs. Technology is offered to the electronic components manufacturers on the basis of license.
Description:
Czech R&D Institution offers a platform for better identification of weak points (leakage points, outage points) of the distribution network while monitoring water consumption. The disclosed technology generally improves water management within the large building complexes or company premises and makes possible to identify non-standard events in the distribution network more easily and in a short time. The developed universal solution of the sensor installation enables savings thanks to high compatibility with the most water meters. The novelty of the product lies in its modularity (detachable adaptor from the reading device) which guarantees the versatility of the device, thus significantly differentiating it from competing products, which are always designed to read water meters of only one manufacturer. The platform is using IoT (Internet of Things) wireless networks (connecting sensors and active elements using information and communication technologies). Conventional electronic reading devices use either wired or wireless transmission, but with very limited range of tens of meters while offered reading module uses LoRa (Long Range) network´s IoT. The unit is compatible with the following types of water meters: • Elster V200 • Elster H4200 • Elster M100i • Sensus Meistream 50 • Sensus 420 • Sensus 620 • Flodis TU1M20 At the same time, the platform in the low-cost version will enable simplified in situ reading. The developed universal solution of the sensor installation enables savings thanks to high compatibility with the most water meters and therefore large-scale production. This feature is attractive to potential manufactures. Based on the current estimate, the market potential in the Czech Republic is in the order of hundreds of sensors per year. The disclosed module technology is offered to electronic components manufacturing companies for licensing of intellectual property rights.
