Summary:
The automated beer brewing equipment developed by machinery research team at the university in Bratislava is fully automatic and suitable for different kinds of users. The university is looking to license the technology to brewers.
Description:
There are a large number of breweries worldwide that produce large volumes of beer, but small breweries and home microbreweries are currently gaining prominence. Large industrial and small breweries are designed to produce as much beer as possible for sale. Home breweries are mainly designed for home brewers for their consumption, with a considerable number of small beer brewing facilities, but all processes must be performed manually by the operator. Barley, water, malt, hops and yeast can be considered as basic raw materials for brewing beer. All these raw materials have an exactly defined ratio and it is necessary to use them in precisely defined brewing processes. The brewing equipment developed at university in Bratislava by the team from the machinery department contains two tanks. In the first tank, the malt is boiled and then the liquid is filtered in two stages under reduced pressure, whereby it is transported directly to the second tank. In the second tank, there is a process of hopping, fermentation and lying of the beer. The automated brewing equipment controls a modular control system containing a front-end application. This application is used to create an interface for the user to display the current status of the sensors and effectors of the device on the touch screen and to enter the sequence of cooking steps, which are represented by blocks. The university is looking for partners to cooperate with via license agreement or via commercial agreement with technical assistance.
