Slovenian company offers innovative corsets for scoliosis correction under outsourcing agreement

A Slovenian company has a 25-year experience working as a provider of custom made prosthetic and orthotic medical devices. The company started as a small family business but is now growing fast and becoming a serious player in the branch. The company manufactures the most demanding orthopedic devices using 3D scanning and 3D printing technology. The company is in a procedure of getting the ISO 13485: 2016 certification. They offer innovative corsets for scoliosis correction. First they make a 3D scan, then using a software they design a torso model and apply a robot to make a corset. Corsets are made out of plastic and are on the inside filed with correction “drivers” made out of soft foam material. The orthosis is made individually according to each patient and depends on the curvature of individual spine. It is intended for the non-surgical treatment of scoliosis in the range of 21 to 45 degrees, in some inoperable cases even at higher curves. It is suitable for the correction of all types of curves. For correction, a thrust force is used, which forces the user (child / adolescent) to withdraw from the corset wall, which gives an active response and thus an active correction of the curve. Derotation pressures (driver) and stimulation pressure for subconscious active equalization (pressure point) are implemented in the orthosis. The construction of the orthosis offers the possibility of openings where there are no corrective pressures, which enables better aesthetics and a more pleasant feeling when worn. The prominent parts of the pelvis are free. The corset is virtually invisible under the dress and more comfortable to wear. The company wants to boost its sales and is therefore interested in cooperation with medical institutions under outsourcing agreement. The company will provide partner with 3D scan technics for taking exact model measurements. Partner will take care of 3D model scanning. The company will 3D print orthosis based on received measurements and ship it to partner. Partner will take care of orthosis application on the patient.
