Summary:
A Spanish SME has developed, with the collaboration of a R&D centre, a system that can help people to control dry eye disease fighting against the first symptoms of ocular discomfort. This system integrates an eye health device, connected to a specific application (app) and a big data platform that allows ophthalmologists to provide information for further advice. Companies in the health and ophthalmology sectors are sought to negotiate manufacturing and/or commercial agreements
Description:
A Spanish startup has developed and patented, with the collaboration of a Spanish technology centre, an innovative device connected via bluetooth 5.0 to a user friendly app, which can detect the dry eye disease (DED) degree of the user, according to his/her personal characteristics, and allows the user to make feedback, provides reports on the evolution of the disease, has eye gymnastics and gives recommendations The dry eye disease is a common and chronic condition, which is considered a major and global health concern. DED causes eye discomfort and pain; it limits vision and reduces quality of life. This disease is a significant problem for up to 35% of the population, and two-thirds of sufferers are women, with a higher risk in post menopause. This multifactorial disease has no cure, but its preventive control can help to overcome its discomfort problematic symptoms and develop a normal life in not severe cases. The startup has designed and manufactured, by injection mould, two models of the prototype open to any pharmaceutical brand and ophthalmic product: -model for vehicles -model for desks. The device can control the preventive treatment of the disease thanks to its own computing capacity to process the signals of the sensors (humidity, temperature, light and presence) and to take decisions. It has some touch buttons and two warning light indicators: one to recommend break from the screen, and the other to remind the ophthalmologic dose (blue) according to personal information and environmental conditions. The app is already fully available, and the product could be customized for different partners and can be adapted to specific groups. The startup is looking to partner with digital health companies, occupational risk prevention services organizations, mutual companies and/or ophthalmic companies (connected to services or product manufacturing). The Spanish SME looks for commercial agreement with technical assistance with SME and MNE to offers the device for acquisition, on a non-exclusive basis, offering to support the transfer of the technology with the provision of additional support services. The ultimate role of the seek partners is to exploit the prototype and bring the product to the market. The Startup is also willing to collaborate under manufacturing agreement looking for SME or MNE that can manufacture the innovative device.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The Spanish SME is looking for companies such as: - Mutual companies and occupational risk prevention services - Ophthalmologic services companies - Digital health non-profit entities. - Companies that manufacture eye drops for dry eye syndrome Commercial agreement with technical assistance (business-to-business models) is desirable for the startup in order to offers the device for non-exclusive acquisition to exploit the prototype and bring the product to the market. Companies interested in manufacturing agreements are also desirable for manufacture the innovative device.
