Founded in 1991 as an initiative by the University of Coimbra, the Portuguese R&D institution is a private non-profit organisation which promotes innovation and the transfer of technology. Its department focuses in applied Research and Technological Development (RTD), consultancy and technology transfer in electronics and automation areas. The institution is offering services of design, implementation/development, prototyping and testing hardware, firmware and software modules for innovative technological solutions.
The organization has a laboratory of automatics and systems specialized in design and prototyping of electronics, automation and instrumentation for internet-of-things (IoT), industry 4.0 (I4.0), health (medical devices) and wellbeing using technologies, such as sensors and actuators, wireless communication, Machine to Machine (M2M), embedded systems, internet of bodies, collaborative robotics and medical device support development.
The organization is also member in two important networks for innovation in the field of health and well-being. One of them is one of the largest health initiatives in the world, aiming to lay the foundations for health care in a sustainable way and, in the future, to promote healthier living conditions and the wellbeing of people throughout Europe.
