Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin film deposition technology using sequential use of a gas phase chemical process. The ALD process uses two chemicals typically called precursors. These precursors are deposited on the substrate sequentially and reacted to form a thin dense film. Compared to conventional thin film processes it has the advantage to grow, form materials uniformly with high precision on arbitrarily complex and large substrates.
